2021 Square Twist
Christmas Card

Tasked with spearheading the College Christmas card in 2021, I wanted to make the card format and message unique to the college, so I took inspiration from the College’s Compliant Mechanisms Research Group.

This group focuses on researching and developing mechanisms that gain mobility through flexible members rather than movable joints only. One of their projects included working with the origami square twist, so I adapted and slightly modified the format of the card to be the square twist––an engaging mechanism I felt alumni and college donors would enjoy interacting with.

After a long two years with the pandemic, the messaging focused on “joy” and sharing the projects students worked on that were uniquely joyful and inspiring. The response to the card was encouraging, with many complimenting the unique format.
